As you will see from the illustrations we can vary the visual impact of the doors by the use of medieval style studing which was mainly used in manoral type buildings of the 16th and 17th century but look equally at home in cottages and barns with a rustic decor.
We can supply cottage doors with a full set of hand forged hinges and suffolk style latches which are truly complimentary to this type of door.
Farmhouse Handmade Oak Doors
These oak planked farmhouse doors can be made to any size within reason and are constructed from pre-selected timber - you tell us how rustic you want it! This material is then machined to 23mm groove moulded and a biscuit inserted. Your choice of feature is then formed on the boards; the width of board is random and the board format chosen for aesthetic pleasure. You can however choose 4" to 8" wide boards. The doors can either be made from four ledgers - the traditional way or by three wider ledgers.
The ledgers and braces are fixed to the pre-clamped boards and then, a choice of nail and boards features are available.
Nail options:
1. Short Nail - rose headed nails only showing on the face side of the door.
2. Cleated Nails - rose headed nails driven through the face of the door through the ledger and then bent over and cleated (this being the traditional method).
3. Plain boards - without feature nails.
Care should be taken when ordering, please make sure that the opening format of the door is given including hinge location on ledger and brace doors. Other profiles are available to match existing doors.
