Some people prefer their doors to be light in colour. This suits barn conversions that have modern furniture an decor, but for homes that have period furniture with mellowed oak beams, medium to dark staining is prefered. After all u wouldn't dream of bleaching your antique oak furniture would you!

1. Our hand made farmhouse doors are made to look like they have hung there for 200 years.
2. We use special selected character oak boards up to 8" wide and approximately 1" thick.
3. We can supply 2' 6" doors of 2 planks at extra cost.
4. Our internal door frames are manufactured out of 4" + 3" 200mm + 76mm as traditionally used.
5. Hand cut rose head nails are driven through the door face and back ledger and then cleated over (traditional medthod).
6. Another option is to use short nail rose heads that finish short of the ledger face (blind nailing).
7. Internal door frames - Our standard internal farmhouse door frames are manufactured using a random chamfer with pegged hand cut bare faced mortice and tenon joints to the head, usually out of 100mm x 75 mm section, but can be manufactured to the section of your choice. These really finish the job off and allow your plasterer to free-float a bull nose around the brick or block return into the frame.

Wood is a living thing

It moves according to its environment. It will expand when it absorbs moisture and shrink when it sheds it. All wood contains moisture even if it has been in a building for 100's of years. If it is not allowed to move it warps and twists, look at the timbers in old timber framed buildings. To allow our doors to move without distorting, the jointing biscuits are only glued on one edge. This allows the planking to move vertically and horizontally without restraint. The cross batterns are also fixed without gluing and fixed with traditional hand cut nails.

Fire Doors

We can also manufacture planked doors and frames that comply with fire legulations.
